Alvin Curran kann auf eine lange und fruchtbare Karriere als Komponist, Performer, Installations-Künstler, Schriftsteller und Lehrer, in der Tradition amerikanischer, experimenteller Musik zurückblicken. 1938 in Providence geboren, studierte er bei Ron Nelson, Elliot Carter und Mel Powell. 1966 mitbegründete er die Gruppe Musica Elettronica Viva in Rom, wo er gegenwärtig residiert. Seine Musik umfasst Kammermusik, Radio-Kunst, Solo-Performance und groß angelegte Theaterspektakel im öffentlichen Raum.
